QuCEmU – Queeres Commmunity Empowerment im migrantischen Umfeld
In June 2024, the RosaLila PantherInnen launched a new project funded by the Federal Ministry of Social Affairs, Health, Care, and Consumer Protection (BMSGPK). The project will run for two years (June 2024–May 2026).
The project focuses on empowering queer people. The goal of the project is to foster empowerment through social work within the context of the queer community center “feel free” in the Gries district. We aim to promote interaction and raise awareness of queer issues. Visibility and mutual understanding between different cultures and queer communities can thus make a significant contribution to social cohesion and the prevention of extremism.
To achieve a sustainable and broad reach with the project, we are focusing on the target group of youth workers, social workers, educators, and, more generally, people working in social service organizations. We aim to leverage the knowledge embedded within these institutions and incorporate it into our project work. As part of our work with various communities, we plan to create informational materials, both digital and print. These materials will be distributed at institutions across Austria during “best practice” talks at the conclusion of the pilot project. These talks will present the project’s experiences and methods so that they can be integrated and applied locally.
